Why I Sell Discovery Toys
Hello! My name is Shannon, and I’m achildcare provider and mother. I have a degree in Early Childcare Educationand after spending the last 28+ years living in a family operated childcare I can honestly say that I fully believelearning through active play is the best and most natural way for a child to begin their education.
At work and at home I strive to combine both structured activities as well as free play for my daughter and the children in my care. (ages 0-5 years old). In fact I am so dedicated to teaching young children, I have spent not hundreds of dollars - but thousands! Trying to find good learning toys that grow with a child while also developing their minds and love of learning.
Here's a few pictures of our playroom... we have a garage, backyard and storage thats also over flowing with toys....
(Thankfully you can learn from spending... ummm "efforts" - as the Toys & Books I’ve discovered are both reasonably priced and wonderfully engaging!)
But before I found Discovery Toys - I would actively scour the internet and my local teacher supply stores, in order to buy products that offered a well rounded education and wide variety of activities.... for example some of our daily activities are...Music time, Arts & Crafts, Movement & Physical education, Basic educational concepts - such as ABC’s, Numbers & counting, pattern making, lacing cards, colors, shapes, and reading books, books and more books, We also take nature walks, go to parks and have weekly field trips to fun locations around Sonoma County, all in an effort to further the children’s learning and give them creative outlets.
BUT --- I’ll be honest, when I get home at the end of the day, and my precious little hurricane (my 4-year old daughter Claire whose been with me all day) wants even more of my attention, as I struggle to make dinner, clean the house and prepare her for bed --- and me for tomorrow --- I’m EXHAUSTED!!! And so are many other parents that work outside the home.
I’m lucky enough that I spend my days with my child, but many families don’t have that luxury, and playtime with mom and dad is limited to nights and weekends. They need books and toys that are not only affordable, but that accomplish learning, bonding, FUN and critical thinking all at the same time.
And after spending years of hands on research watching and teaching children (my own and others) I can honestly say that you don’t have to look any further... Discovery Toys are not only made with the best materials --- but they are also made with so much consideration to a child’s developing mind. They truly are FUN, CAPTIVATING and will be LOVED from day one to one thousand... my daughter and all my daycare kids (and their parents) and attest to this fact.
We currently have AND still play with the Discovery Toys we bought 18 years ago! They are among the most loved and coveted toys and books in our HUGE collection. As are the new additions of Discovery Toys that are added all the time.
